Day five

Today was another jammed packed day. We reviewed Microsoft Office 2007 (Word and Powerpoint) and the changes between older versions and this one. We then went to "ooVoo", got accounts and video conferenced using all five web cams at the same time. After lunch we delved deeply into podcasting. We created mp3 files in Audacity and published them on "Gcast". Then we embedded our podcasts onto our wiki's. Boy have we come far since a week ago!

Even though I felt absolutely horrible today, I still managed to learn something. It was nice to get a chance to look through Word and PowerPoint 2007. Podcasting was good, too, except the joys of technology confused everything.

The review of the office suite was a nice way to start out the morning and learn some of the tricks to the new version. OOVOO was okay but I like skype much better. The podcasting tutorial was pretty cool. I think that I might use it for my class.

I can see how podcasting could make things like homeschooling for students who leave during the year easier if internet access is available. Because I don't lecture as much as I do student-centered projects and inclass discussion, I don't know how far I could take it that way.

I didn't realize how simple it was to Podcast after I realized that I had to reboot my computer to get it DLed properly. Very cool

Today we worked on Microsoft Word and Powerpoint 2007. They were similar to the versions that I used, but the menus were a little confusing to me because I had not used them before.

Today I recieved a short review of Microsoft Office and Power Point 2007. I also learned how to make a podcast, a gcast account, and how to link these to our blog spots or wikispaces. It was interesting to learn how to podcast and also enjoyed learning how to have a video conference call using oovoo.

well today we learned about oovoo but i like skype better. we also did our own mini podcast. audacity was slow for this, which in turn was a pain. i liked learning about microsoft 2007 and wouldnt mind taking a class on this because i use appleworks and works at home.

It was good to see the changes in the 2007 versions of Word and PowerPoint because I am sure that eventually, everything will be switched over to the new version.

I like the idea of the podcasts; however, I don't think it would be something I would use regularly because I rarely do lectures in my class. I think it will be more useful for college where some classes are predominantly lecture-based.

It was great to have a "fresh" lesson on the 07 Microsoft Programs. ooVoo is very similiar to skype and yahoo, I enjoyed seeing the new program. Podcasting has many applications for the classroom and I look forward to learning more about it.

Just about the time I become familiar with a program-they(technology gurus)bring a new version! I agree with the comments that the word program tool bar was a little confusing-I would like to see this as a flex meeting Wallenpaupack class. I am still waiting to put my podcast up.

I don't know that I would use too much of this in my classroom, but I do like the idea of podcasts for homebound students.

Initially I was against podcasts, but after putting one in my Wikispace, I realized that I would actually use them in class. Instead of posting my discussions(in writing), I could do a podcast. The possibilities are endless.
